Srinagar, April 4 Authorities in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir issued a medium-intensity avalanche warning for the next 24 hours on Saturday, urging people to remain highly vigilant, officials said.
The avalanche, of medium intensity, is likely to occur above 2,400 meters in the central Kashmir district, they said.
In light of the danger, the general public is advised to remain highly vigilant, they added.
The district administration also advised people to avoid venturing into areas prone to avalanches, including slopes, hilly terrain, and higher reaches, the officials said.
Residents, tourists, and nomadic communities are requested to follow official advisories and cooperate with the administration for public safety, the administration said in an advisory.
On March 27, seven people were killed and five were injured after multiple avalanches hit the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal.
