Jammu, March 29 Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Sunday urged the youth and farmers of the nation to liberate the country from the current "pro-rich" and "anti-people" government.

Karra criticised the BJP government at the Centre, claiming that the people have suffered greatly under its rule. He pointed out that the government has failed to fulfil its promise to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and pledged to continue the fight for this cause.

Speaking at a 'Kissan Sammelan' in Nagri, Kathua district, Karra stated that common citizens have faced significant hardships during the past 12 years of BJP governance, which he accused of serving only the interests of "big corporate friends."

"The prime minister has compromised the dignity and sovereignty of 140 crore Indians by surrendering to US President Donald Trump," he said, calling on farmers and youth to work together to overthrow the "pro-rich and anti-people" Modi regime.

Karra also advocated for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the central government had betrayed the people of the region by not honouring its commitments.

Jammu and Kashmir Congress working president Raman Bhalla criticised the central government for failing to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, despite promises made by the prime minister and home minister. He stated, "The people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to the dual control system and the lack of statehood."

Former minister Lal Singh joined the criticism, accusing the BJP of undermining the Dogra identity and the rights of the people by splitting the erstwhile state into two Union Territories.

"Our land, jobs, and natural resources are being exploited by outsiders at the expense of locals. The residents of Kathua, Samba, and Jammu have been disproportionately affected, with rising crime rates and increased activity from the drug mafia, which is harming our youth," he said, calling for the immediate restoration of statehood.
