The Lok Sabha has extended the tenure of the Joint Parliamentary Committee examining legislation related to the "one nation, one election" concept until the first day of the last week of the 2026 monsoon session. The bill aims to introduce simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. Chairman of the committee, P.P. Chaudhary, moved a motion to extend the tenure of the Joint Committee on the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The motion was adopted by voice vote in the House.
