Journalism’s Decline: Naidu’s Call for Ethical Reporting.webp

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed concern over the declining standards in the media and called for the restoration of journalistic values. He was addressing the 11th plenary session of the Indian Journalists Union (IJU), held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada the previous day.

The Chief Minister noted that journalism has undergone significant changes in recent times, with increasing instances of misinformation and sensationalism. He said the spread of false content, especially on social media, is a matter of concern and urged journalists to play a proactive role in preventing the circulation of misleading information.

Mr. Naidu also cautioned that media ownership by political parties could pose risks to impartial reporting. He emphasised the need to uphold principles, ethics, and credibility in journalism, stating that the decline in values must be addressed collectively by the media fraternity.

Reiterating his government’s support, he described his administration as journalist-friendly and assured efforts to resolve issues faced by media professionals. He called on journalists to contribute to the state’s development by highlighting constructive and development-oriented news.
