
Kalaburagi, February 20 – Five children, including toddlers, were bitten by a stray dog in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka.
The incident, reported on Friday, occurred in the Devinagar area of Kalaburagi city while the children were playing in front of their homes.
The children sustained serious injuries to their eyes, ears, and chest. They have been admitted to GIMS Hospital and are receiving treatment.
Residents have expressed outrage against the municipal corporation authorities for "failing" to control the stray dog problem.
Locals allege that dog bite incidents are reported almost every day, but the authorities have ignored the issue.
The residents staged a protest and surrounded the corporation office, demanding immediate action to curb the dog problem in the city. More details about the incident are yet to emerge.
On February 7, a video of a young girl, a toddler, bravely fighting off stray dogs in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, went viral on social media.
The video showed the girl, wearing a hijab and school uniform, being surrounded by a pack of barking dogs, and how she bravely chased them away. Even as they returned, she stood her ground and faced them bravely until they stopped barking and left. The video also showed her mother coming out of the house later with a stick.
Later, stray dogs that had tried to attack a young girl in Rehman Colony were captured by the corporation authorities. The corporation maintained that safety measures were now in place.
As many as five children were injured after they were bitten by a stray dog in the Mominpur area of the city.
In a tragic incident, a dog attacked seven children and an elderly person in Bailahongal town in Belagavi district on January 28 and 29.
