Kozhikode (Kerala), March 31 A woman passenger sustained serious injuries after unidentified individuals threw stones at the Kannur Executive Express here, police said on Tuesday.

The injured woman, identified as Aiswarya Ramakrishnan (22) from Vadakara, lost three teeth and suffered injuries to her lips and chin.

According to police, the incident occurred between the Kadalundi and Feroke railway stations on the Executive Express, which operates between Alappuzha and Kannur, at approximately 9:50 pm on Monday.

Police said that fellow passengers alerted railway authorities, who then took Ramakrishnan to a hospital.

The Kozhikode Railway Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Police said that Ramakrishnan, a college student, was returning home on a study leave and was sitting by the window in a non-reserved compartment.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has also launched a parallel investigation and is trying to identify those responsible for the incident.
