
Thiruvananthapuram/Kannur, April 1 A 37-year-old man has been arrested and remanded for allegedly sending obscene messages and images to the chairperson of the State Women's Commission, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Puthanveetil Jagadeesh, a resident of Taliparamba in Kannur district, was arrested on March 27 and remanded to judicial custody the following day by a court in Thiruvananthapuram, police said.
A case has also been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, based on a complaint filed by the chairperson of the commission, advocate P Satheedevi, it said.
An officer of the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber police station, where the case is registered, said that examination of the accused's phone revealed that he had sent similar obscene messages and images to several other women.
