Kanpur (UP), March 31 Police in Kanpur held a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review security arrangements at 27 key installations, focusing on preparedness against emerging threats such as cyber attacks, drone intrusions, and unauthorized access, officials said.
The meeting, chaired by Police Commissioner Raghuvir Lal at the Police Commissionerate office, was attended by management and security officials from 27 critical establishments, including industrial units, petroleum facilities, and power sector entities.
"Authorities presented detailed briefings on the existing security infrastructure, covering perimeter protection systems such as boundary walls, access-controlled gates, boom barriers, and tire killers.
"Advanced surveillance measures, including CCTV networks, watch towers, and video analytics, were also reviewed, along with fire safety mechanisms," the police said in a statement.
Discussions focused on strengthening preparedness against emerging risks, particularly cyber attacks, drone-based threats, and unauthorized intrusions.
Officials discussed measures to enhance response capabilities and address potential vulnerabilities, he added.
The Police Commissioner emphasized the need to strengthen human intelligence and ensure strict police verification of contractual workers, laborers, and other staff deployed at sensitive sites.
Officials highlighted Kanpur's strategic importance, noting the presence of defense establishments, petroleum infrastructure, power grids, and major industrial hubs, which necessitated heightened security vigilance.
"Senior police officers were joined by representatives from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Special Branch, and private stakeholders, including the Adani Group. Following the meeting, agencies agreed on a coordinated action plan and finalized standard operating procedures (SOPs) to address future security challenges in a structured and proactive manner," the statement said.
