The film, which is nominated for the best international feature category at the 98th Academy Awards, tells the true story of Hind Rajab, who was fleeing Gaza City with her family in January 2024 when their car was targeted by Israeli forces. This resulted in the deaths or severe injuries of several family members.
The central focus of the film is Hind Rajab's call for help, which she makes while trapped in the car. This call, in which she pleads for rescue, is central to the film's narrative.
"When I heard Hind Rajab's voice, it was so powerful and it deeply affected me. I couldn't ignore it and continue with my life. So I decided to make this film. I felt that it was the right thing to do," Hania said in an interview with
