
Islamabad, April 5 – Ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's planned protest against rising fuel prices and inflation, two roads leading to the Karachi Press Club (KPC) were closed on Sunday, with the police citing "security" reasons for the closure.
In a statement, the Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) said that both lanes of Din Mohammad Wafai Road were closed.
It further stated that Sarwar Shaheed Road, from the Coast Guard Officers' Mess towards Angle Chowk at the Karachi Press Club, was also closed to traffic, as reported by Dawn, Pakistan's leading daily.
The Karachi Traffic Police also stated that traffic was being diverted from MR Kyani Road towards the police station.
They said that traffic coming from Fawara Chowk was being diverted towards Aiwan-i-Sadr and Zainab Market, while vehicles from the Coast Guards' Mess could go towards the Passport Office.
