New Delhi, March 31 Two individuals were apprehended by the Delhi Traffic Police for stealing vehicles during routine enforcement drives in the Karol Bagh area of central Delhi, an officer said on Tuesday.

In one incident, traffic personnel stationed at Shadipur Chowk intercepted a motorcycle after its rider attempted to evade a check at around 1:20 pm on March 30. The staff became suspicious and managed to stop the vehicle, apprehending two 20-year-old men, Deepak and Gourav Kumar.

Upon verification, the motorcycle was found to have been stolen from the jurisdiction of Greater Noida in 2022, police said, adding that the accused and the vehicle were handed over to the Ranjit Nagar Police Station for further legal action.

In a separate case on the same day, a traffic constable noticed an unclaimed D-Van parked on a footpath near Kamal T-Point on New Rohtak Road. Verification revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from the jurisdiction of the DBG Road police station earlier this year.

The recovered vehicle was handed over to the concerned investigating officer for necessary legal proceedings, the officer said.

"This action reflects the vigilance and proactive role of traffic personnel, who, besides regulating vehicular movement, are also contributing to crime detection and prevention," said DCP Traffic (Central Range) Nishant Gupta.

He further added that the Delhi Traffic Police remains committed to ensuring safer roads and strengthening coordinated enforcement efforts across the city.
