Srinagar, April 7 Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir issued a "medium danger" avalanche warning for the higher reaches of the Ganderbal and Kupwara districts on Tuesday, due to fresh rainfall in the valley.
"An avalanche with a medium danger level is likely to occur above 2600 meters in Ganderbal and Kupwara within the next 24 hours," an official of the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority said here.
People living in these areas were advised not to venture into vulnerable areas until the advisory is in effect.
The warning was issued following a period of rain in the plains and snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir.
