Kashmir Lawyers Assist Those Detained During Protests.webp

Srinagar, March 24 The Shia organization, Anjuman Sharie Shian, formed a panel of lawyers on Tuesday to provide legal assistance to individuals facing legal proceedings due to their participation in anti-US and anti-Israel protests in Kashmir earlier this month.

The panel of lawyers was formed after a meeting chaired by its president, Aga Syed Hassan, in Budgam.

"During the meeting, it was decided that those individuals who are facing legal cases due to the recent turmoil caused by the Iran-Israel conflict and are unable to hire lawyers due to financial constraints, will be provided assistance through an expert panel of lawyers," the organization said in a statement.

Hassan's son and PDP MLA from Budgam, Aga Muntazir, who is also a lawyer, will provide assistance to those facing cases in the Patiala House court in Delhi.

Other lawyers will be available at courts in Srinagar, Budgam, Magam, Beerwah, and Chadoora, the Anjuman said.

Dozens of young people were detained and booked during protests against the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the joint US-Israeli strikes against the Gulf country on March 1.
