
Jammu, April 6 The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir arrested a government employee in the Kathua district on Monday for allegedly demanding a bribe, officials said.
The accused, Desh Raj, was a junior assistant in the Social Welfare Department, stationed in the Billawar area of the district. He was accused of demanding Rs 10,000 from a man in order to release financial assistance under the state's marriage assistance scheme for his daughter's wedding, scheduled for April 16, they said.
The complainant approached the ACB, after which a discreet investigation was conducted, confirming the demand and leading to the arrest of the employee.
