Kaul Singh Thakur: Party Workers Report Lack of Progress Under Sukhu

Kaul Singh Thakur: Party Workers Report Lack of Progress Under Sukhu.webp

Shimla/Mandi (HP), April 8 Former state Congress chief Kaul Singh Thakur on Wednesday claimed that party workers were unhappy with the government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu because their work was not being done.

Despite the Congress being in power, the work of BJP workers is expedited while dedicated Congress workers are left to run from pillar to post, he said while addressing workers of the Darang assembly constituency in Himachal's Mandi district.

"During the tenure of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, the approved notes were immediately implemented. But under the present government, the chief minister's approved notes are not implemented for months," he claimed.

"What is the use of having 'our' government for the workers," Thakur lamented.

The veteran leader, who is also a former minister and ex-speaker of the state assembly, said that he had recently given names for promotion of school principals, but they were not posted against vacant posts in Mandi. "Instead, they were sent to remote areas like Kibber and Panjai. Despite personally informing the chief minister, nothing was done," he said.

"If the recommendations of senior leaders meet such a fate, who will listen to the grievances of the common party worker," he said.

Resentment prevails among Congress workers "as their work is not being done," he said.

Singh warned the chief minister that "if the party workers are not treated with respect and if their legitimate demands continue to be ignored, the party will have to pay a heavy price".
