Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and opposition leaders thanked voters on Thursday for actively participating in the democratic process as polling for the state assembly elections concluded.

Expressing gratitude to voters, Vijayan said that the campaign period was relatively short this time, but the enthusiasm shown by political workers, who worked tirelessly despite the intense summer heat, was noteworthy.

He also praised voters for turning out in large numbers at polling booths, braving adverse weather conditions, which reflected Kerala's strong democratic values and commitment to the state.

Describing the high voter turnout as commendable, he said that it was a significant achievement that polling was completed across the state without any untoward incidents.

He also appreciated the efforts of election officials, police and central forces personnel, health workers, and volunteers who worked round the clock to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.

"Let us move forward together for a new Kerala," he said.

Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V D Satheesan, thanked the people of Kerala and expressed confidence that the UDF would lead the state.

"Thanks to enlightened Kerala," he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to party leaders and workers who worked tirelessly, day and night, for UDF candidates since the election announcement.

"Kerala will win, UDF will lead," he said.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar also thanked voters in a Facebook post.

He said that each vote strengthens democracy and gives the BJP and NDA the confidence to realize the vision of a developed Kerala.

"This election is a step towards a developed Kerala and for change," he said.

He also thanked party workers for their tireless efforts and expressed his pride in them.
