
Kannur (Kerala), February 27 A man died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Aralam, a northern district of the state, on Friday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Aneesh AS (44), from Block 10, Aralam Farm here.
According to police, the incident occurred around 4 am, when Aneesh went to the toilet outside his house.
At that time, a wild elephant that was standing near the house attacked him, causing severe injuries.
Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, Aneesh was declared dead on arrival, police said.
Aralam police have registered a case of unnatural death and have started an investigation.
Officials at the Aralam police station said that there is a severe conflict between humans and wild animals in the area, and similar fatal incidents have been reported earlier.
The body will be handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination, police added.
