Kerala Minister Suggests 'Exile' for Opponent After Election Loss

Kerala Minister Suggests 'Exile' for Opponent After Election Loss.webp

Kozhikode (Kerala), April 10 Kerala Minister A K Saseendran on Friday criticized Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, V D Satheesan, saying that he could make arrangements for the Congress leader to go into "exile" if the UDF loses in the Assembly elections.

Saseendran, who contested from the Elathur constituency in the elections, was responding to reporters' queries regarding Satheesan's recent remark that he would quit politics and go into "exile" if the UDF is defeated in the Assembly elections.

The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader, Saseendran, said, "As the Minister of Forests, I can make the necessary arrangements for Satheesan's exile."

Meanwhile, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief Sunny Joseph asserted that neither he nor Satheesan would have to go into exile.

Joseph further told reporters that such expressions are part of a conversational style aimed at projecting confidence.

He said that Satheesan was indicating his confidence in a UDF win when he used that phrase.

The Kerala Assembly elections were held on Thursday, with results for all 140 constituencies to be declared on May 4.

The LDF is aiming for a third term, the UDF for a comeback, and the NDA to open its account in the state.
