
Palakkad (Kerala), March 10 A forest guard was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in Palakkad district, Kerala, on Tuesday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Shaiju (28), had been working as a guard in the department for the past three years.
The incident occurred at Chenerikkunnu, under the Mannarkkad police station, in the evening when a team of forest officials were trying to drive away a wild elephant that had wandered into a residential area, they said.
Shaiju sustained serious injuries in the attack and was taken to a hospital, but he could not be saved, police added.
