Thiruvananthapuram, February 17 A school bus carrying 21 children lost control and overturned into a stream adjacent to the road near Marayamuttom here on Tuesday morning, but the students escaped unharmed, police said.
All the children were safely pulled out of the water by the driver and local residents, and were taken to a nearby hospital for examination, they said.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Local residents told a TV channel that the incident occurred between 8:30 am and 9 am as the bus was on its way to school.
They said the children on the bus were students from LKG to class 4.
They further said that after the bus fell into the stream, which was unusually full of water, the driver and nearby residents quickly rescued the children, thus averting a major tragedy.
