Kerala Tourist Rescued in Manali Snow.webp

Shimla, March 27 Himachal Pradesh Police safely rescued a tourist from Kerala on Friday after he was stranded in snow near Beas Kund in the outskirts of Manali in the Kullu district of Himachal, officials said.

The Manali Police Station received information that Arshad, 20, a tourist from Kerala who had gone on a solo trek to Beas Kund, was stranded after losing his shoes.

Acting on the information, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar, who was on duty at the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, was immediately dispatched towards Beas Kund along with a police team, they said.

Upon reaching the scene, the police found that the individual was stranded in the snow, approximately 2 to 3 Km uphill from the Dhundi Bridge, and unable to walk, they said.

"I came for trekking, but lost my shoes while trekking. I am grateful to the Himachal police for rescuing me; otherwise, I don't think I would have been safe," Arshad said.

Demonstrating promptness and courage, Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar and his team carried out a rescue operation and physically carried the individual on their backs to a safe location, Manali DSP KD Sharma said.
