
On the second day of the Khelo India Tribal Games, competitions in swimming, weightlifting, hockey, and football were held in Chhattisgarh yesterday. Karnataka swimmer Manikanta L. won the gold medal in the 200 metres individual medley, achieving a hat-trick of gold medals. Odisha's Anjali Munda won the gold medal in the women's 200 metres individual medley, securing her second gold of the competition. In weightlifting, Assam's Monikha Sonowal won the gold medal in the 48 kilogram category, while Mizoram's Isak Malsawmtluanga secured gold in the 60 kilogram category. In the medal count, Karnataka is leading with eight gold, three silver, and one bronze medals, while Odisha is in second place with five gold, one silver, and eight bronze medals.
On the third day today, events in swimming, weightlifting, hockey, football, and wrestling will be held. The Khelo India Tribal Games began in Chhattisgarh on March 25th and will continue until April 3rd. More than three thousand athletes from thirty states and union territories are participating in the event. Competitions are being held in seven disciplines – archery, athletics, football, hockey, swimming, weightlifting, and wrestling – while Mallakhamb and Kabaddi have been included as demonstration sports. The events are being held in Raipur, Bastar, and Surguja.
