
The sixth Khelo India Winter Games concluded at Gulmarg, with the Indian Army emerging as the top performer by securing nine gold, six silver, and eight bronze medals. Himachal Pradesh finished second with six gold, seven silver, and one bronze medal, while Haryana secured the third position with four gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
Maharashtra claimed the fourth position with three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, while Ladakh finished fifth by winning two gold, five silver, and six bronze medals, marking a strong performance by the Union Territory.
The closing ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Mansukh Mandaviya, who was the Chief Guest. Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, Satish Sharma, attended the event as Guest of Honour, while MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah was also present.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister announced that the seventh edition of the Khelo India Winter Games will be held in Gulmarg next year for a duration of fifteen days. He said the move would promote winter sports at a global level and also benefit the hospitality sector and allied industries.
During the ceremony, athletes securing the top three positions were felicitated, as applause, medal distribution, and vibrant cultural performances added to the grandeur of the event. Over the past few days, young athletes from across the country showcased their skills in skiing, ice skating, snowboarding, and other winter sports.
The closing ceremony also featured traditional dance, music, and colourful cultural performances, offering a glimpse of Kashmir's rich culture and warm hospitality.
