On the occasion of International Women's Day, the 'Asmita League' was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, today.
She encouraged women to participate in sports in large numbers and emphasized the importance of promoting sports among women in both urban and rural areas.
Various sports competitions for women were organized at the Divisional Sports Complex ground. During the event, Minister Khadse launched a cycling competition and a walkathon.
The 'Asmita League' is being organized across districts in the country under the Khelo India initiative to provide more opportunities for women to participate in different sports.
