Kolkata, March 10 – A fire broke out in the Anandapur area, on the southern outskirts of Kolkata, according to police on Tuesday.
This time, the fire occurred in the factory of a well-known cake manufacturing company. However, there have been no reports of any injuries. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
According to police, the cake manufacturing company has a factory on the EM bypass. The incident occurred when work was being carried out in the factory on Monday night.
Upon seeing the fire, the workers quickly evacuated the factory in a panic. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Anandapur police station. The police and fire department were immediately alerted. The fire quickly spread throughout the factory.
Police and the fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene, and the area was cordoned off. Firefighters quickly began to extinguish the fire.
Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire. After some time, the fire in the factory was brought under control. It is suspected that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.
Police and fire brigade officials have begun investigating the incident. They are also checking to ensure that all the factory's documents are in order.
The incident brought back memories of the fire at the Pushpanjali decorator's warehouse and a nearby momo factory in January of this year.
The massive fire occurred in the same Anandapur area, which houses many warehouses and factories. Approximately 27 people were killed in the fire, and another 27 are still missing.
The people died because they were unable to escape the factory after the fire broke out. Their body parts were recovered from the charred warehouse. Since there was no way to identify anyone, DNA tests were conducted.
The body parts of 27 people were handed over to their families after DNA tests. Three people were arrested in connection with the incident.
