April 8, Kohima: In Nagaland, all preparations are complete for the by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency in the Mokokchung district tomorrow, with enhanced security measures in place.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Ajit Kumar Verma, stated that the District Election Machinery, along with security forces, is fully prepared for a free, fair, and peaceful by-election.

Highlighting the arrangements, he said that teams dispatched from the DC Office are stationed at all 30 polling stations.

Mr. Verma noted that additional security forces have been deployed at vulnerable locations, in addition to one Coy of CAPF along with the state armed police force at all polling stations.

He said that the border with Assam has been sealed.

The DC added that two polling stations will be completely manned by female polling personnel.

The Koridang Assembly Constituency will go to the polls tomorrow, with over 22,300 voters. The by-election was necessitated by the death of the sitting MLA, Imkong Imchen, in November last year.

Six candidates are contesting the by-election, including BJP's Daochier I. Imchen – the late Imkong’s son – , T. Chalukumba A of Congress, I. Abenjang of NPP, and independent candidates Imchatoba Imchen, Imtiwapang, and Toshikaba.
