Shimla, March 28 A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly defrauding a Nepalese national of Rs 5,000 by impersonating a police officer in Bhuntar, in the Kullu district, police said on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Mohit Sharma, a resident of Dhalpur, Kullu.
According to the police, the victim, Dile Ram, filed a complaint on Friday, alleging that on March 26, a person took Rs 5,000 from him by deceiving him.
The police have registered a case under sections 319(2) (cheating by impersonation) and 307 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and have initiated the investigation.
The accused was arrested by the police from his residence.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Kullu said that further investigation is underway.
