Kolkata, March 30 TMC MLA Debasish Kumar appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on Monday for questioning in connection with a land fraud case, officials said.
Kumar, who has been renominated from the Rashbehari seat in south Kolkata, appeared before the ED amidst his election campaign.
The ED aims to determine whether Kumar had any financial transactions with businessman Amit Gangopadhyay, whose property was recently searched by the central agency, an official said.
"The search at Gangopadhyay's residence uncovered several documents and pieces of evidence, prompting our officers to seek further information from Kumar," he said.
Polling in the Rashbehari constituency will be held in the second phase of the West Bengal elections on April 29, with counting scheduled on May 4.
The BJP has fielded columnist Swapan Dasgupta as its candidate in the seat.
