Landslides Disrupt Travel on Jammu-Srinagar Route.webp

In Jammu and Kashmir, vehicular traffic on the 270-kilometer-long strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was completely suspended last night after continuous landslides blocked both roads of the highway between Karool Bridge and Chanderkote.

According to traffic police, the two roads in the affected area were rendered unsafe due to heavy debris and falling stones, forcing authorities to halt vehicular movement from both the Jammu and Srinagar sides. Vehicles were stopped at safer locations to prevent any accidents.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Raja Adil Hamid, said that clearance operations by the National Highways Authority began this morning. However, intermittent falling stones continued to hamper the clearance operation.
