Chief Engineer PWD North and Superintending Engineer Kupwara review progress and quality of key bridge and infrastructure projects across Langate and Handwara areas
February 17, Handwara: Er. Susheel Kumar, Chief Engineer (North), along with Er. Rayees Mukhdoomi, Superintending Engineer, Kupwara, of the Public Works Department (R&B) Jammu and Kashmir conducted a joint and extensive inspection of major infrastructure projects in the Langate and Handwara areas of Kupwara district.
The inspection covered several vital works, including Khan Tulwari Bridge, Dand Kadal Bridge, Drungsoo Bridge, Hangah Auditorium and Bakhikher Rajwar Bridge. The officers reviewed the physical progress of works, quality of execution and adherence to prescribed technical standards at each site.
During the visit, the Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineer assessed both ongoing and pending components of the projects and issued on-the-spot directions to the executing agencies. They stressed the need to accelerate progress, maintain strict quality control and ensure completion of works within the stipulated timelines. Emphasis was also laid on regular field monitoring and enhanced coordination among departmental officers to strengthen road and bridge infrastructure and improve public convenience.
The inspection team was accompanied by Er. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Executive Engineer Handwara; Er. Jehangeer Mir, Executive Engineer Langate; Er. Mudasir Ahmad Khanday, Assistant Executive Engineer Qalamabad; Er. Mohd Hussain, Assistant Executive Engineer Handwara, along with other concerned departmental officials.
The joint visit underscores the department’s commitment to timely completion of public infrastructure projects, transparency in execution and sustained improvement in road and bridge connectivity across the Langate–Handwara region of North Kashmir, contributing to smoother mobility and overall regional development.
