
Ranchi, March 31 A man is alleged to have killed his wife by beating her with an iron rod in the Ranchi district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday in the Lapungdih village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sonahatu police station. The deceased has been identified as Gangi Devi (35), and the accused as Chitranjan Singh Munda (40), they said.
Prem Pradeep, the officer in charge of the Sonahatu Police Station, said, "The accused has been on the run since the crime. He killed the woman after an argument over some issue. The body has been sent to RIMS, Ranchi, for autopsy. The iron rod used to kill her has been recovered from the crime scene."
The police are conducting raids at various locations in the area to trace and apprehend him, he added.
An FIR has been lodged in this matter at the police station, the OC said.
