March 17, New Delhi – Israel announced on Tuesday that it had eliminated Ali Larijani, Iran's powerful national security chief, along with the commander of Tehran's Basij paramilitary force.
Iran has not yet commented.
If confirmed by Tehran, this would be the most high-profile assassination since Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed on the first day of the Israeli-U.S. airstrikes on February 28th.
Larijani was last seen in public on Friday, attending the al-Quds day rally, along with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian.
