
Laterhar/Palamu, April 5 Four people died in separate road accidents in Jharkhand's Latehar and Palamu districts, police said on Sunday.
In Latehar, two people were killed instantly after a speeding truck collided head-on with their motorcycle. The accident occurred on the Balumath-Murpa main road around 8 pm on Saturday, a police officer said.
"The deceased have been identified as Kamesh Oraon and Vijendra Oraon of Doknahi Tola," said Amrendra Kumar Singh, officer-in-charge of Balumath police station.
Angered locals blocked a section of the road, demanding compensation for the families of the deceased, and it was lifted around 1 pm after assurances were given that financial assistance would be provided in accordance with the law, he said.
In Palamu district, two people were killed in accidents in the Chainpur police station area and Padwa, respectively, another officer said.
The deceased were identified as Amresh Kumar Vishwakarma (29) and Naval Kumar Mishra (55).
