
Latur, March 13 One person was killed after a state transport bus caught fire while it was being refuelled in Latur district, Maharashtra, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred at the Nilanga bus depot around 8 pm on Thursday, according to an official.
A bus belonging to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) was being refuelled when the diesel tank exploded, triggering a massive fire that engulfed the vehicle, he said.
Baswaraj Mathpati, an operator who was overseeing the refuelling process, sustained 90 per cent burns and died at a hospital on Friday morning, he said.
Meanwhile, senior MSRTC officials visited the Nilanga depot and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the accident. A detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the explosion, officials said.
