
April 11, New Delhi – The nation is celebrating the 200th birth anniversary of the renowned social reformer, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, today. On this occasion, tributes were paid to him at the Parliament House in New Delhi.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid floral tributes and honored his legacy.
Born in Satara, Maharashtra, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule fought against social evils and made significant contributions towards establishing social equality and justice.
Along with his wife, Savitribai Phule, he took historic initiatives in the field of women's education and empowerment, laying the foundation for transformative change in Indian society.
