Jammu, April 8 Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has prorogued the legislative assembly of the Union territory, formally concluding the Budget session, an official release said on Wednesday.

The Budget session commenced on February 2, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presenting the Budget on February 6. The House held two sittings each day until February 20, and resumed the Budget session on March 27 after a five-week break.

On April 4, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather adjourned the Legislative Assembly sine die. The Budget session saw 22 sittings spread across February, March and April.

Citing a bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the release stated that the Lieutenant Governor, exercising the powers conferred under Section 18(2)(a) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, prorogued the Assembly session through an order issued on April 7.
