Jammu, April 9 Asserting that nation-building is rooted in our shared mindset and is a collective responsibility, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Thursday that true nationhood is realized when self-interest gives way to the common good.
Sinha said that India's rich and diverse traditions, characterized by mutual respect, form the essence and unity of the nation.
"Nation-building is rooted in our shared mindset. A strong nation is built on the integrity, common values, and trust among citizens, not just on buildings. My message to the youth is that true nationhood is realized when self-interest gives way to the common good," he said.
The LG said that cultural heritage is a powerful societal resource that shapes our thinking, actions, values, and beliefs, and serves as the foundation for society.
He called upon the youth to reconnect deeply with their cultural roots. "Humanity that is disconnected from its cultural roots loses its strength. The youth of J-K, rooted in heritage, will prove unstoppable in nation-building," he said.
Sinha was attending a musical opera, 'Mata Sukrala Ki Kahani', which depicts the revered legend of Mata Sukrala Devi at Abhinav Theatre here.
"Truth, faith in the divine, and love for our motherland bind us together. The grace of Mata Sukrala and our common heritage inspire nation-building efforts. The lively stories, arts, and folk practices of the Duggar culture carry timeless wisdom from elders to the youth," the LG said.
He added that when we revitalize these traditions through various artistic mediums, we are not merely reminiscing about the past; we are investing in the future. "By giving new life to traditional values, we are preparing the younger generation to lead with a strong moral and cultural compass," he said.
The LG said that the paramount challenge today is to view nation-building solely as a governmental duty.
"Nation-building is a collective responsibility. Aware citizens guide a nation's path because indifference undermines even the mightiest systems. Therefore, awaken your sense of duty, and I firmly believe that culture will anchor our identity," Sinha said.
Emphasizing that our ancient culture embodies bravery, togetherness, devotion, and responsibility, he further said, "Reviving it through diverse art forms honors history while fueling the future, reigniting principles for young people to carry forward."
