March 3, Kohima: A special court under the POCSO Act in Dimapur has sentenced Yilobemo Mozhui to life imprisonment for the 2020 murder of a 17-year-old girl.
The verdict was announced yesterday.
According to a press note from the Dimapur Police, the victim's body was found on October 22, 2020, at the St. Clare Higher Secondary School ground in Kachari Gaon, Phevima.
The Dimapur Women's Police Station registered the case and conducted a thorough investigation.
Police said that, after collecting substantial oral, documentary, and forensic evidence, charges were filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.
Following a thorough trial, the Special Court found that the prosecution had proven the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, and delivered the verdict.
