March 19, New Delhi – Lionel Messi has become only the second player in history to reach 900 career goals at the highest level, after scoring against Nashville SC in Inter Miami's match.
The Argentinian achieved this milestone just seven minutes into the game at Geodis Park during the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup last-16 tie.
Since joining Inter Miami in June 2023, the 38-year-old forward has scored 81 goals in 92 appearances, playing a key role in helping the club win both the League Cup and the MLS Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently has 965 career goals, has stated his ambition to surpass the 1,000-goal mark before retiring. Messi reached the 900-goal milestone in 1,142 matches, while Ronaldo took 1,236 games to achieve the same feat.
