Lok Sabha Sees Withdrawal of Decriminalization Bill.webp

New Delhi, March 17 The government withdrew a bill from the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that aimed to amend certain laws to decriminalize and rationalize offenses in order to further enhance trust-based governance.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal withdrew the "Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025," as reported by the Select Committee after obtaining the House's permission.

The bill will be reintroduced after incorporating the recommendations of the Lok Sabha select committee, officials said later.

While a pending bill can be withdrawn after obtaining the House's permission, a law can be repealed by introducing a repealing bill.
