Nagpur, February 21 Union Minister Nitin Gadkari advocated for construction designs that take into account the purchasing power of people, asserting that the greatest need at present is for low-cost and affordable housing.
He was addressing a gathering at the 'Design Showcase and Confluence 3.0' organized by the Indian Institute of Interior Designers here.
"The real estate sector is among the fastest-growing, and it will create the most jobs. It also generates the most revenue for states and the Centre through GST. Construction designs should be planned with the purchasing power of people in mind. The greatest need is for low-cost and affordable housing," he said.
He also urged the sector to explore ways to reduce production costs.
Gadkari emphasized the importance of new designs, innovation, and research.
