The government has decided to double the daily allocation of five-kilogram free trade LPG (FTL) cylinders available for distribution to migrant laborers across states. Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr. Neeraj Mittal, has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories in this regard. He stated that these five-kilogram LPG cylinders will be made available to State Governments and their Food and Civil Supplies Departments for supplying only to migrant laborers within their State, with the support of Oil Marketing Companies. The Petroleum Ministry stated that the enhanced allocation will be based on the average daily supply of cylinders provided to migrant workers. This revised allocation exceeds the earlier cap of 20% specified in the March announcement. Approximately six lakh 75 thousand five-kilogram LPG cylinders have been sold since the 23rd of last month.
