LPG Supply in Haryana: Officials Report Smooth Distribution.webp

Chandigarh, April 7 With the war in West Asia disrupting energy supplies, Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed the distribution of LPG cylinders as well as the status of the piped natural gas (PNG) network across the state on Tuesday.

The meeting was conducted via a video conference, which was attended by deputy commissioners (DCs) of all districts of Haryana.

Rastogi instructed officials to ensure the last-mile delivery of LPG cylinders, with special attention to rural areas.

There is absolutely no shortage of domestic LPG in Haryana, and the situation is similar to the corresponding period last year, officials said.

This is a testament to the proactive planning and efficient coordination by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) – working in close partnership with the state government, an official statement said.

In another significant development, from March 28, OMCs have resumed full commercial LPG supplies to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and industries, in addition to essential supplies, it said.

This move is expected to provide substantial relief to the hospitality and food service sectors across the state and boost commercial activity.

Commercial establishments can also register with the respective OMCs to avail a timely and uninterrupted LPG supply, ensuring ease of doing business and operational continuity, the statement said.

During the meeting, the DCs were directed to closely monitor the distribution of 5-KG cooking gas cylinders and PNG connectivity in their respective districts, address any bottlenecks in the booking and delivery chain promptly, and ensure that new LPG connections are issued in a time-bound and transparent manner, particularly to beneficiaries under welfare schemes.

According to the statement, Rastogi emphasised that the state government remains fully committed to ensuring that no household in Haryana faces any inconvenience in accessing clean cooking fuel, and that the distribution machinery must remain alert and responsive at all times.

Commissioner & Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, J Ganesan, informed the meeting that domestic LPG cylinders are being supplied across the state without any disruption in the supply chain.

Officials said in the meeting that during March, OMCs together supplied a total of 54.39 lakh domestic LPG cylinders across Haryana.

IOC supplied 23.36 lakh cylinders, BPCL supplied 18.83 lakh cylinders, and HP supplied 12.21 lakh cylinders, reflecting a well-coordinated and wide-reaching distribution network covering both urban and rural areas of the state.

The review meeting focused on the distribution of 5 Kg FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinders, which serve as a convenient and affordable option for migrant labourers, smaller households, street vendors, and small eateries.

Between April 1 and April 5, 2026, a total of 4,730 FTL cylinders were sold across the state by the three OMCs. IOC contributed 1,294 cylinders, BPCL distributed 2,422 cylinders, and HPCL supplied 1,014 cylinders.

The Chief Secretary directed all DCs to ensure that the availability and accessibility of 5-KG cylinders is further strengthened at the grassroots level.

The central government has also directed states to double the daily allocation of 5-kg cylinders to expand outreach and improve affordability.

Reflecting growing energy access and inclusion, a total of 2,565 new LPG connections have been issued since March 15, 2026.

This surge in new connections underlines the government's push for clean cooking fuel adoption across all sections of society, the statement said.

Continuous fuel supplies are also being maintained at all petrol pumps across the state. Residents are advised that there is no need for panic buying as sufficient stocks are available at all retail outlets.

Meanwhile, Rabi crop procurement in Haryana is also proceeding smoothly, with robust arrangements in place to facilitate hassle-free wheat arrival and procurement, ensuring convenience for farmers and efficient operations at procurement centres.
