New Delhi, March 13 Refuting claims of shortages in LPG cylinders, the BJP said that the Congress and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are trying to create "inconvenience" for consumers, adding that such reports were emerging only from states ruled by these parties.
BJP IT department head Amit Malviya said that Karnataka was the first state from where reports of LPG shortages surfaced, followed by West Bengal, while alleging that Samajwadi Party leaders in Uttar Pradesh were found hoarding LPG cylinders.
"Incidentally, Karnataka was the first state from where reports of LPG shortages began to surface. Soon after, similar news emerged from West Bengal. Media reports now suggest that Samajwadi Party leaders in Uttar Pradesh are hoarding gas cylinders," Malviya said in a post on X.
"At a time when the country stands united, opposition leaders appear more focused on creating inconvenience for common citizens than showing responsibility," he added.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also criticised the Congress, the TMC, and the Samajwadi Party, alleging that they were "working against India's interest."
"Congress and Samajwadi Party are a disgrace. They want Indians to suffer. Congress, Samajwadi Party and TMC leaders are working against India's interest," Bhandari said in a post on X.
Citing media reports, he referred to an incident in which an alleged Samajwadi Party worker was apprehended with 55 filled LPG cylinders during a raid in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. However, the Akhilesh Yadav-led party has denied any links with the person.
Bhandari also said that despite the conflict in the Middle East, LPG cylinders in India are reaching and will continue to reach the doorsteps of consumers in about two-and-a-half days.
"Under PM Narendra Modi, India stands out globally. There is no increase in petrol or diesel prices. There is no shortage of domestic LPG supply. The Congress is spreading panic. The Modi government is providing stability," he said.
