LPG Supply Review: Telangana Government Meets with Oil Companies.webp

Hyderabad, March 12 Telangana Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Thursday that the state government has convened a meeting with representatives of oil marketing companies to assess the LPG supply situation and finalize its course of action.

He said there has been no problem with the supply of domestic LPG cylinders so far.

"We are monitoring the situation regarding LPG. In Telangana, domestic supply is 86 per cent, and commercial supply is 14 per cent. There have been no problems with the 86 per cent domestic supply so far. However, we have noticed some problems with the commercial supply," he told reporters here.

He said he has called a meeting with representatives of the OMCs on Friday to examine if there is a shortage in supply and to determine how to proceed.

Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao would also be present in the meeting, he said.

Meanwhile, representatives of the hotel industry said that the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders has made it difficult for hoteliers to run their businesses in Hyderabad, while some establishments are temporarily closing their operations.

They claimed that commercial cylinders are being sold at a black market price, with a cylinder that usually costs around Rs 2,000 now being sold for around Rs 5,000.

Hyderabad Hotels Association president Ashok Reddy said that hotels are trying to manage the situation by using existing stocks, while some others are using wood as fuel.

The hotels' representatives are trying to meet state government representatives on Friday to seek their help.
