New Delhi, March 25 According to sources, the Congress party has received eviction notices from the Estate Department to vacate its office at 24, Akbar Road and its premises at 5, Raisina Road in Lutyens Delhi by March 28.

The party is facing the prospect of losing its long-standing party office, which it has occupied since 1978, as this is the final notice sent by the Estate Department.

The party continues to maintain its headquarters at its Akbar Road office, while the Indian Youth Congress operates from the Raisina Road premises.

Sources indicated that the notice was delivered a few days ago and has not even given the venerable party a week's time to respond.

Sources within the party stated that the Congress is still formulating its strategy on the issue and may even approach the court in light of the sudden notice.

The Congress has already constructed its new party office at Indira Bhawan.

While the party has not made any official statement, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said that the government should apply its rules uniformly to all and not single out the party.
