Mumbai, February 18 French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron left Mumbai for New Delhi on Wednesday after concluding their official engagements here, including bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

They were seen off at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.

On Tuesday, Macron held discussions with Modi as part of efforts to further strengthen India-France strategic ties.

During the Mumbai visit, the French President and his wife also met some of India's top filmmakers and actors over lunch, where they discussed cinema, culture, and collaboration.

Macron and the First Lady visited the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), a UNESCO Heritage Structure, on Tuesday night.

Referring to Mumbai as "The city of dreams" on his X handle, the French President visited the station around 10.30 pm.

He walked inside the station from platform number 1. After spending almost six minutes, he exited from platform number 8, an official said. The President left in his official car.

The CSMT station, also the headquarters of the Central Railway, was targeted by terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

Tight security was maintained by the Mumbai GRP and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

President Macron began his official visit to India on February 17 at the invitation of PM Modi to participate in the AI Impact Summit in Delhi.

PM Modi will inaugurate the summit on February 19. As many as 20 heads of state will be present at the inaugural session, Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan said.
