Thane, March 18 The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has awarded a compensation of Rs 40,08,000 to the family of a 36-year-old supervisor who died in a road accident involving a trailer in 2017.

The order, delivered by K P Shrikhande, held the owner and the insurer of the trailer truck jointly and severally liable to pay the amount to the family of the deceased, Noor Mohammad Fateh Mohammad Choudhari.
The accident had occurred on the Mumbra-Panvel road on December 24, 2017. The deceased was riding pillion on a motorcycle when a speeding Tata Trailer crashed into it from the left. Both the rider and the deceased were dragged along, and Choudhari died on the spot.
