Latur, February 25 A criminal case has been registered against the founder and president of a residential school in Latur district, Maharashtra, for allegedly making unwanted advances towards a woman Anganwadi worker, police said on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Murud police station on February 24 against Baburao Kisan Jadhav.
According to the complainant, she went to the Vasantrao Naik Ashram School in Pimpalgaon Amba during the Class 12 examinations after being called by her Anganwadi supervisor for assistance.
Jadhav, the school's founder-president, allegedly took her mobile number, invited her out for a meal, offered her money, and asked about her days off, suggesting a private meeting.
Even when she refused and made it clear that she was not interested, he repeatedly called her and asked her to come to a hotel, the complainant told police.
A First Information Report was registered against Jadhav under sections 78 (1) of the Bombay Police Act (for following and contacting a woman repeatedly despite her clear indication of disinterest).
Jadhav was detained on February 23 and later released after being served a notice, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
