
Chandrapur, March 10 A 48-year-old man was killed in a tiger attack in the buffer zone of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra on Tuesday, according to officials from the forest department.
The deceased, identified as Jagan Dhurve, a resident of Mamla village, had gone into the forest to collect firewood.
When he failed to return home by evening, a search was launched for him. Forest department personnel later found Dhurve's body in the buffer zone of the reserve, they said.
According to the officials, Dhurve was killed by a tiger.
The forest department handed over an initial compensation of Rs 1 lakh to his family, in accordance with government regulations, and the remaining amount will be provided after completing the necessary formalities, informed a senior official of the tiger reserve.
